Basic Information
Description:

Founded in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide organization of lay Catholics following Christ’s call to serve the poor, the suffering, and the deprived. Our founding activity is the Home Visit. Through these visits, Vincentian members establish personal relationships with our neighbors in need, not only providing material assistance such as rent, utilities, food, or clothing, but also offering friendship, understanding, and prayer.

Our members are known as Vincentians, named after our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, who follow in the spirit of St. Vincent in service to the poor and marginalized. Our Vincentian brothers and sisters embrace the virtues of simplicity, humility, selflessness, gentleness, and zeal in serving the suffering of our community. Currently, meetings are held via Zoom. We provide the following services to our community:

  • Make home visits to individuals & families within Sequim School District boundaries
  • Visit individuals residing in our local care facilities or those confined at home.
  • Maintain a food pantry to provide emergency food needs.
  • Host Coffee Hour at St. Joseph Parish the first Sunday of each month, after Mass.
  • Host the annual Friends of the Poor Walk to raise funds and community awareness about poverty in our community. Held in mid-Sept. at Carrie Blake Park.
  • Conduct the Annual Christmas Giving Tree for children at our parish.
  • Host an annual luncheon for incarcerated youth in Port Angeles.
  • We warmly welcome you to consider joining us.
